Convection current

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004663

A localized flow of fluid, such as air or water, driven by differences in density caused by temperature variations. In the atmosphere, these currents involve the upward movement of warm, buoyant air and the downward movement of cooler, denser air. Convection currents are responsible for vertical heat transfer and the development of convective clouds.
