Dark segment

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004858

A region of the night sky that appears darker than its surroundings due to the obscuration of background stars by interstellar dust clouds. While primarily an astronomical term, these features can influence observations of atmospheric phenomena by reducing ambient light. They are not directly related to atmospheric processes but affect astronomical visibility.
