Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004870
The period of time required for one complete rotation of the Earth on its axis, relative to a celestial reference point. In meteorology, a solar day, approximately 24 hours, is the most common measure, defining the cycle of diurnal heating and cooling. This fundamental unit of time influences many atmospheric processes and weather patterns.
