Decay area

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004881

A region where a meteorological phenomenon, such as a weather system or a specific atmospheric feature, is observed to be weakening or dissipating. This area is characterized by decreasing intensity, diminishing gradients, or a reduction in associated weather activity. For example, a decay area for a thunderstorm complex would show decreasing radar reflectivity and lightning activity.
