Decay

The process of a meteorological phenomenon gradually weakening or diminishing in intensity over time. This applies to systems like hurricanes, thunderstorms, or fronts as they lose their energy source or encounter unfavorable atmospheric conditions. For example, a tropical cyclone decays as it moves over cooler waters or makes landfall.
