Double-mass analysis
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005109
A graphical technique used in hydrology and meteorology to check the consistency of hydrometeorological data, such as precipitation or streamflow records, over time. It involves plotting the cumulative annual or monthly data from one station against the cumulative data from a nearby, stable reference station or the average of several stations. A change in the slope of the resulting curve indicates an inconsistency, such as a change in gauge location or observational procedure.
