Double-mass curve
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005110
A plot used in hydrometeorology to assess the consistency of a station's data by comparing its cumulative measurements against those of a stable reference. The curve is generated by plotting the cumulative values of a variable, like precipitation or runoff, from a test station against the cumulative values from a control station or regional average. A break in the slope of the curve indicates a systematic change in the data collection at the test station, such as instrument relocation or calibration issues.
