Dynamical extended range forecasting
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005213
Weather prediction that extends beyond the typical short-range forecast (up to 10-14 days) into the sub-seasonal to seasonal range, often using coupled atmosphere-ocean models. This type of forecasting aims to predict average conditions or probabilities of certain weather patterns over weeks to months, rather than specific daily weather. It relies on the slower evolution of oceanic and land surface conditions.
