Economic yield of aquifer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005260
The maximum rate at which water can be withdrawn from an aquifer without producing undesirable economic outcomes. These outcomes include excessive pumping costs from lowered water levels, the need to deepen wells, or economic losses from land subsidence and water quality degradation. This rate is always less than or equal to the safe yield, which is based purely on hydrologic balance.
