Fiducial temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005559
A specific, precisely known temperature used as a reference for calibrating thermometers or other temperature-measuring devices. This temperature is often associated with a phase transition of a pure substance, such as the triple point of water (273.16 K or 0.01 °C). It provides a stable and reproducible standard for temperature scales.
