Free air
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005752
The atmosphere above the planetary boundary layer, where the influence of the Earth's surface friction and diurnal heating is minimal. In this region, atmospheric motions are primarily governed by the Coriolis force and pressure gradients. It typically begins a few hundred meters to a kilometer above the ground, depending on atmospheric stability.
