Heiligenschein
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006213
An optical phenomenon observed when an observer's shadow falls on a dewy or wet surface, appearing as a bright halo around the shadow of the observer's head. It is caused by the retroreflection of light by spherical water droplets, which act as tiny lenses. This effect is often seen in grassy fields or on wet pavement.
