Earth's shadow

The cone-shaped region of space behind the Earth where direct sunlight is blocked by the planet itself. During a lunar eclipse, the Moon passes through this shadow, causing it to dim or appear reddish. The shadow extends far into space, but its visible effects are most noticeable on celestial bodies.
