Shadow band pyranometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008816
A type of pyranometer equipped with a mechanical device that periodically shades the sensor from direct solar radiation. This allows for the separate measurement of diffuse sky radiation by subtracting the shaded reading from the unshaded total global radiation. The shadow band is typically adjusted daily or seasonally to track the sun's position accurately.
