Net pyranometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007510
An instrument designed to measure the net shortwave radiation, which is the difference between incoming and outgoing solar radiation. It typically consists of two pyranometer sensors, one facing upwards to measure incident radiation and another facing downwards to measure reflected radiation. This device is used in micrometeorology and agricultural studies to quantify the energy balance at a surface.
