East Antarctic Ice Sheet

The larger of the two ice sheets covering Antarctica, situated primarily in the Eastern Hemisphere and resting on a landmass mostly above sea level. It contains the vast majority of the continent's ice and is considerably thicker and more stable than its western counterpart. The ice sheet holds enough frozen water to raise global sea levels by approximately 53 meters if it were to melt completely.
