Antarctic Ice Sheet

The continental glacier covering more than 98 percent of Antarctica, representing the largest single mass of ice on Earth. It is divided by the Transantarctic Mountains into the much larger East Antarctic Ice Sheet and the smaller, less stable West Antarctic Ice Sheet. This ice sheet contains approximately 90 percent of the world's ice and 70 percent of its fresh water.
