Antarctic Polar Front

A major oceanic frontal zone in the Southern Ocean, representing the most prominent and northernmost boundary of the Antarctic Zone. It is characterized by a sharp decrease in sea surface temperature and a change in water mass properties, separating the cold, fresh waters of the Antarctic from the warmer, saltier waters to the north. This front is a region of intense biological productivity.
