Antarctic air
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003536
A very cold, dry, and stable air mass that originates over the Antarctic continent and surrounding ice sheets. This air mass forms due to intense radiative cooling over the high-latitude landmass, leading to extremely low temperatures and low moisture content. It is characterized by strong temperature inversions near the surface.
