Hot-wire anemometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006283
A device for measuring fluid velocity, especially air speed, based on the principle of convective heat transfer from a thin, electrically heated wire. The wire's temperature changes with the flow rate, altering its electrical resistance, which is then correlated to the wind speed. This instrument provides high temporal resolution for studying atmospheric turbulence.
