Ice bay

An indentation in the edge of an ice sheet or ice shelf, formed by local melting or by the movement of ice away from the main body. These features are common along coastlines where warmer ocean currents or freshwater runoff can erode the ice. Ice bays can vary greatly in size, from small coves to large embayments spanning many kilometers.
