Sinkhole

A depression or hole in the ground surface caused by the collapse of the surface layer into an underlying void. These formations often occur in karst landscapes where soluble bedrock, such as limestone, is dissolved by groundwater. They can vary greatly in size, from small depressions to large chasms.
