Interferometry

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006590

A technique that uses the interference of waves, typically electromagnetic waves, to extract information about the properties of the medium through which they travel or the source emitting them. In meteorology, it is applied in remote sensing to measure atmospheric temperature, humidity, and trace gas concentrations. Satellite-based interferometers provide global atmospheric profiles.
