Jet-effect wind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006741
An increase in wind speed that occurs when air is forced to flow through a constricted opening, such as a mountain pass or between tall buildings. This phenomenon is a consequence of the Venturi effect, where the conservation of mass requires the air to accelerate as the cross-sectional area decreases. Such localized accelerations can create significantly stronger winds than in surrounding areas.
