Junction streamer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006750
An upward-moving positive streamer, in the Malan and Schonland model of lightning, that travels through the cloud between return strokes and links the top of the existing channel to new pockets of charge so that a further stroke can follow. Its slow progress is held responsible for the J field change, the steady electric field change recorded in the interval between strokes.
