Limiting angle

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006968

A critical angle of incidence, reflection, or scattering that defines the boundary for the observation of an atmospheric optical phenomenon or the operational range of a remote sensing instrument. For example, in the context of a rainbow, it relates to the specific angle of minimum deviation for light passing through raindrops, which determines the rainbow's angular radius. This angle is a fixed value of approximately 42 degrees for the primary bow.
