Angle of refraction

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003507

The angle between the direction of a refracted ray or wave and the normal (a line perpendicular) to the interface between two media. This angle is governed by Snell's Law and depends on the refractive indices of the two media and the angle of incidence. Atmospheric refraction causes celestial objects to appear higher in the sky than their true position.
