Limited-area forecast model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006967

A type of numerical weather prediction model that simulates atmospheric processes over a restricted geographical domain, rather than the entire globe. These models typically employ a finer grid spacing than global models, allowing for more detailed representation of mesoscale weather features. They require boundary conditions from a larger-scale model to operate effectively.
