Model resolution
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007358
The spatial or temporal granularity at which a numerical weather prediction or climate model represents atmospheric processes. Higher resolution models use smaller grid cells or time steps, allowing for the depiction of finer-scale features and more detailed atmospheric dynamics. Global climate models often operate at resolutions of tens to hundreds of kilometers, while regional models can resolve features down to a few kilometers.
