Lyman alpha emission line

A specific spectral line in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum, produced by hydrogen atoms transitioning from the first excited state to the ground state. This emission is a prominent feature in solar radiation and is used to study the upper atmosphere. It has a wavelength of 121.567 nanometers.
