Magneto-ionic theory
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007090
A theoretical framework describing the propagation of electromagnetic waves through a plasma that is permeated by a magnetic field. This theory is particularly relevant to understanding radio wave propagation in the Earth's ionosphere, where free electrons and ions interact with the geomagnetic field. It explains phenomena such as Faraday rotation and whistlers.
