Ionic conduction
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006645
The movement of electrical charge through a medium by the migration of ions. In the Earth's atmosphere, particularly in the lower atmosphere, ionic conduction occurs as positive and negative ions drift under the influence of the atmospheric electric field. This process contributes to the fair-weather atmospheric current and is influenced by the concentration and mobility of atmospheric ions.
