Ion density

The number of ions per unit volume in a given region of the atmosphere. This quantity can refer to either positive or negative ions, or the total concentration of both. Ion density is a key parameter in understanding atmospheric conductivity and the electrical balance of the lower atmosphere, often measured in ions per cubic centimeter.
