Small-ion combination
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008958
The process by which small atmospheric ions, which are highly mobile charged molecules or molecular clusters, attach to uncharged aerosol particles or other ions. This combination reduces the number of free small ions and can lead to the formation of larger, less mobile ions or charged aerosol particles. The rate of combination depends on the concentration and size distribution of both ions and aerosols.
