Large ion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006879
An atmospheric ion characterized by low electrical mobility, consisting of a charged molecular cluster or an aerosol particle that has acquired a charge. These ions have radii ranging from approximately 1 to 20 nanometers, making them significantly larger and less mobile than small ions. Large ions are formed when small ions attach to neutral aerosol particles or through the coagulation of smaller charged particles, and they influence the atmosphere's electrical conductivity.
