Marine weather observation

The collection of meteorological data from oceanic and coastal areas, typically performed by ships, buoys, and coastal stations. These observations include measurements of atmospheric pressure, air temperature, sea surface temperature, wind speed and direction, wave height, and visibility. The data is transmitted to meteorological centers for use in weather analysis and forecasting.
