Mean sea level trends

The long-term change in the average height of the ocean's surface relative to a fixed reference point on land. These trends are influenced by thermal expansion of seawater and the melting of glaciers and ice sheets. Measurements are derived from tide gauges and satellite altimetry, often expressed in millimeters per year.
