Mesoanticyclone
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007212
A rotating circulation in a thunderstorm that turns anticyclonically, clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, the mirror image of a mesocyclone. It is found in the updraft of the left-moving member of a split supercell, shows on Doppler radar as a velocity couplet with the opposite rotation sense, and occasionally lies beneath an anticyclonic tornado. It differs from a mesohigh, which is the pool of cool high pressure under a thunderstorm.
