Describing a climate characterized by moderate temperatures, with distinct warm and cool seasons. These climates are neither consistently hot like tropical regions nor persistently cold like polar areas, supporting the growth of forests and agriculture. In the Köppen climate classification system, mesothermal (Group C) climates are defined as having an average temperature of the coldest month between −3°C (or 0°C) and 18°C.
