Mixing cloud
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007335
A cloud formed primarily by the mixing of two air masses with different temperatures and humidity levels, both of which are initially unsaturated. When these air masses mix, the resulting mixture can become saturated, leading to condensation and cloud formation. This process is often observed in contrails from aircraft engines or in steam fog.
