Ocean mixing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007660
The process by which different water masses within the ocean combine, driven by winds, tides, and density differences. This process redistributes heat, salt, and dissolved gases throughout the water column and across ocean basins. Vertical mixing can bring nutrient-rich waters to the surface, supporting marine ecosystems.
