Wind mixing

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010254

The process by which wind-induced turbulence causes the vertical exchange of momentum, heat, and constituents within a fluid, such as the atmosphere or a body of water. In the atmospheric boundary layer, this leads to the vertical distribution of pollutants and temperature. In oceans and lakes, it drives the mixing of surface waters with deeper layers.
