Isentropic mixing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006675
The process by which air parcels exchange properties along surfaces of constant potential temperature. This mixing occurs without a change in the potential temperature of the parcels involved, making it an adiabatic process. It is a key mechanism for redistributing atmospheric constituents, such as trace gases and aerosols, within the troposphere and lower stratosphere.
