Normalized Difference Vegetation Index

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007601

A graphical indicator that quantifies vegetation health and density by analyzing the difference between near-infrared and red light reflected by plants. Healthy vegetation absorbs most visible light and reflects a large portion of near-infrared light, while unhealthy or sparse vegetation reflects more visible light. NDVI values range from -1 to +1, with higher positive values indicating denser, healthier vegetation.
