North Atlantic Deep Water

A large mass of cold, dense, and highly saline water that forms in the North Atlantic Ocean, primarily through the cooling and sinking of surface waters in the Greenland and Labrador Seas. It flows southward at great depths, forming a key part of the global thermohaline circulation. This water mass is characterized by its high oxygen content.
