Norwegian Sea Deep Water

A cold, dense water mass that forms in the Norwegian Sea through intense cooling and convection processes. It sinks to the bottom of the basin and contributes to the deep water circulation of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. This water mass is characterized by its low temperature and relatively high salinity, playing a role in global ocean circulation.
