Nusselt number
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007637
A dimensionless number representing the ratio of convective to conductive heat transfer across a boundary. It quantifies the enhancement of heat transfer from a surface due to convection compared to pure conduction. A Nusselt number of 1 indicates heat transfer by conduction only, while values greater than 1 signify the presence of convection.
