Occluded depression
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007656
An extratropical cyclone that has undergone the process of occlusion, where the cold front has caught up to and merged with the warm front. This lifts the warm air mass away from the surface, leading to a complex frontal structure. The occluded depression represents a late stage in the cyclone's development, often associated with widespread cloudiness and light precipitation.
