Oscillator
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007750
A recurring, large-scale pattern of climate variability characterized by fluctuations between two or more states over months, years, or decades. These patterns involve persistent, coupled interactions between the atmosphere and ocean, influencing temperature, precipitation, and storm tracks across vast regions. Prominent examples include the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), and the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO).
