Pannus

An accessory cloud formation appearing as a ragged, detached layer of cloud below a main cloud base. It is composed of small, low-level clouds that often form in turbulent, moist air beneath nimbostratus or cumulonimbus clouds. This cloud type indicates high humidity and active precipitation processes.
